"They do a great job with their (defensive) scheme," Harbaugh said. "They know what they're looking for and they have a lot of guys. They'll execute and play with same type of speed and tempo they played with last year. Their corners can lock down receivers. There is no drop off from last year."

"They put their linebackers up on the ball," said Stanford center Alex Fletcher about the Beavers' defense. "It's almost like a beehive. They bring a lot of guys and give a lot of different looks. It's one of the most complicated defenses we're going to play against. Thank God we have had about six months to prepare."

Following a recent team vote, Victor Butler, Brandon Hughes, Andy Levitre, and Sammie Stroughter, all seniors, were elected team captains.

Among the seniors who were not chosen are Al Afalava, Keenan Lewis, Jeremy Perry, Adam Speer, and Tavita Thompson.

However, Riley appoints a game captain each week.

Kevin Rhoderick named to USA National Team

"Oregon State freshman closer Kevin Rhoderick has been named to the USA Baseball National (Collegiate) Team, it was announced Tuesday.

Rhoderick becomes the fourth Oregon State player to make the squad, joining Kevin Gunderson and Jonah Nickerson in 2005 and Darwin Barney in 2006.

"It feels great to be named to the team," Rhoderick said. "It’s a great opportunity to represent my country against some of the world’s best competition. It’s an incredible feeling.""

Serna makes 4 FG's, lifts Blue Bombers to victory

Winnipeg's local favorite place kicker, Troy Westwood, was released from the team last Sunday after 17 years. Serna, a rookie and local unknown, filled right in where Troy left off with four field goals, one of them coming with :01 left on the clock to give his team a 19-16 victory.

A capacity crowd of 29,553 came to see the Blue Bomber's final pre-season game.

The opposing team's kicker missed all three of his field goal attempts.
